Leena and Lu is a small family business, founded by my sister Kathya—who lives in Peru—and me here in Atlanta. Leena and Lu is luxury sleepwear unlike any other. Sourced from the softest, certified organic cotton in Peru, our production process is sustainable and free of chemicals and pesticides, making our sleepwear safer for our consumers, our farmers, and our environment. Leena and Lu colors are made from all-natural dyes and we only produce in small batches, with an intense focus on quality, not quantity.

I think we are most proud that our business has been built on our commitment to sustainability. Both of us have young children and we are trying to do our part by teaching them that taking care of people and our earth begins at home. We knew from the very beginning of Leena and Lu, that creating a sustainable, environmentally friendly product would be at the core of our brand. And since we both grew up there, we wanted to utilize our connection with Peru, one of the top 10 organic cotton producers in the world, to have a clean, visible supply chain.

Knowing that our most significant environmental impact would come from the type of material our products are made from, we committed to only utilizing GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) Certified Cotton. From harvesting raw materials, through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing, and all the way up to labeling, Leena and Lu is truly putting our environment first!

Prior to starting Leena and Lu, I was a stay-at-home mom and had a career in media and public relations with stops in NYC, Atlanta, and Arizona. When my husband took a post in Arizona, I served as the Public Information Officer for the Mayor and Council for the City of Nogales. And before that, I worked as a freelance producer for a number of TV networks, editor for a Spanish newspaper, and even hosted my own show on Spanish radio.

You can see why we’re so thrilled to host Ofelia tomorrow—see you then!
