About TWE

emma

We represent a new, needed crossroads between women and money — where talking about money, wealth, and personal finance is no longer taboo and tacky.

Why The Wealth Edit

At The Wealth Edit, women find a community that meets them where they are, addressing each woman’s individual needs and allowing them to ask questions – including the tough ones – in a private environment. Not all women’s needs are the same. Your Glidepath will guide you through one of six distinct trajectories, designed to teach you more about yourself and connect you with women on a similar path.

Meet the Team Behind The Wealth Edit

Lauren Pearson, CFP ®

The Wealth Edit Owner and Cofounder

Glidepath: HEIDI

Lauren Pearson is a Certified Financial Planner™ and, in addition to her work with The Wealth Edit, runs a boutique, full-service financial firm, HighTower Somerset Advisory, in Birmingham, Alabama. Lauren has designed and crafted hundreds of financial planning scenarios in her decade-plus career in the field and is deeply committed to the clients she serves through her work.

Driven by curiosity, a love of research, and a knack for planning, Lauren’s skillset includes personal financial planning, asset allocation, portfolio construction, and charitable gifting strategies for both professionals and families. After years of drafting hundreds of plans for families, Lauren saw the deep need for women to have a space of their own to understand wealth outside the context of a traditional advisory relationship.

As important as her work is to her, her faith and her family come first in her life – her husband, Andrew, and their three smart and brave daughters are the No. 1 priority in her life. Lauren is a Georgia fan and is obsessed with philanthropy and yoga.

Emily Lassiter

The Wealth Edit Cofounder

Glidepath: PRIM

In addition to her financial advising skillset, Emily Lassiter brings to The Wealth Edit 14 years of experience as an attorney before pivoting at age 43 to help and serve women throughout their financial journeys at HighTower Somerset Advisory in Birmingham, Alabama. Emily practiced law at such firms as Walston, Wells, Anderson and Bain and, later, Robinson Adams Insurance Company (now Arthur J. Gallagher) before shifting careers in 2018.

Emily unexpectedly lost her husband in an accident in 2014, and, in the aftermath of this tragedy, sought out a support group for widows that she spoke with regularly. Over and over again, these women brought up questions regarding personal finance and wealth. Through this, Emily realized there was an unmet need for women seeking out wealth advisors who understood each woman’s individualized needs and trajectories and, in researching how to fill this void, found Lauren Pearson, her cofounder at The Wealth Edit. Their mutual passions of serving and helping women through their financial journeys pushed Emily to shift careers and for the pair to establish The Wealth Edit in 2020. Emily finds fulfillment in establishing relationships with her clients, learning about their goals and dreams, and empowering them each to craft and implement a plan to achieve their goals.

A native of Montgomery, Alabama, Emily is a graduate of both Auburn and the University of Alabama School of Law. She is a devoted parent to her two teenage daughters and enjoys traveling with them, exploring all that the world has to offer, and reading.

Carrie Teardo

Wealth Edit Consultant

Glidepath: SARA

Carrie is a graduate of Samford University with a degree in Piano Performance. She taught privately for many years and eventually made the leap into the corporate world where she currently works as a Client Relationship Manager for a tech company.

In 2014 Carrie began the divorce process and lost her job within days of each other. She got savvy quickly and found a way to thrive as a single mother on a much reduced salary. Through this process she developed a knack for personal finance and brought her seemingly nonexistent net worth to a place where she can live comfortably and retire well.

Carrie has taught several courses at The Wealth Edit including Budgeting 101 and Financial Minimalism. She currently assists the team with onboarding, member relationships, and data management. She is happily remarried, has a daughter who is thriving, and is enjoying vegetable gardening.

Our online, membership-based community educates women on how to develop a modern skillset for their personal finances. Women of all ages gather, learn, and plan their financial journey through virtual courses, weekly guest speakers, and educational content. We are the opposite of stuffy and stodgy. We are relatable, approachable, and anything but uptight.

The Wealth Edit is founded by two women, Lauren Pearson and Emily Lassiter, whose combined financial and legal experience spans across several decades. We are women, and we have studied women and the issues they care about when thinking about their lifestyle. The Wealth Edit is what we have learned, and are learning right alongside you.

Join us on our journey. We can’t wait to meet you and grow with you.
